How much does it cost to repay my help to buy equity loan?
When repaying a help to buy equity loan, you will need to pay for a RICS surveyor to value your property and for a solicitor to complete the legal work. The legal process is very similar to a transfer of equity, although there is a specific protocol that must be followed.
You will also need to pay off at least 10% of the loan (see how this is calculated), any outstanding loan payments and interest, and an administration fee payable to the Help to Buy agent.
What does my help to buy redemption quote include?
Fixed fee promise
The fixed fee promise means that you pay exactly what you are quoted, provided the information you've given us is correct.
If you want your solicitor to carry out additional legal work that falls outside of the standard transfer of equity process, such as a will or deed of trust, your solicitor may charge you additional fees.
If you do ask your solicitor to complete any additional work, your solicitor will inform you of any additional costs.
Our 'No Completion, No Fee' guarantee ensures you don’t pay your solicitor's fixed legal fees if you decide not to proceed with the loan repayment. A fee included in your initial quote covers this guarantee. You can either apply this fee to your next transaction or request a full refund. Third party costs (disbursements) incurred on your behalf remain payable.
Help to Buy Specialists
If you are planning to remortgage the property at the same time as repaying your loan, your solicitor can complete this work at the same time as part of the process.
When you pay off a help to buy loan in a property with a mortgage, your solicitor will need to be an approved member of the bank or building society's legal panel. If your solicitor is not on the panel, you will incur additional costs and delays. As our solicitors can act for all UK lenders, your equity transfer can proceed with lender delays or additional costs.

Can you also give me a quote for the property valuation?
Yes. You'll need to obtain a formal property valuation from a RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) accredited surveyor. You can get a quote for a property valuation in the specific format required by gov.uk from our panel of surveyors here:
